A Bit About Me

I’m Okie, born and raised. Since my first stint in high school newspaper as a layout editor, I’ve known that I wanted to be a designer. I didn’t realize where it would take me though or how much I’d learn along the way.

Having spent the last 18 years in the advertising business I’ve advanced my career and skill set through diligent, organized, and strategic work that combines customer insights with refined and intentional design acumen.

I believe leadership can only be achieved by acting as the example of what is to be expected. Nobody is above a task, nobody is below one, and nobody has all of the answers. Teams learn by doing and teams can thrive when everybody has an opportunity to shine, to fail, and to learn from one another at any moment in the creative process. Mutual respect and an understanding of each team members’ strengths and weaknesses is what builds a cohesive and supportive team that can effectively work together to do truly great work.

I have an innate curiosity that leads my design work, looking at what has been done, what is being done, and what could be done. I love taking on new challenges that require learning something new, or developing new and better ways of solving existing problems.

On a personal angle, I’m a happily married husband, I’m the proud father of two great kids and have two slightly less well-behaved hound dogs. I’m a graduate of Oklahoma State University and am a proud Girl Scout volunteer (hit me up if you need the inside track on cookies) and along with my wife am a Cub Scout leader for my son’s den. I enjoy a good rock climbing session and a long bike ride between brain-twisting design projects.

If there’s a hobby out there, I’ve probably given it a try, which I attribute to my natural curiosity and desire to always find a new challenge. So if you need advice on how to brew some beer, do some archery, what board game you should buy, or maybe even learn to knit or crochet, I’m definitely your guy. But more importantly, I design stuff.
